Sky Harbor Asks Passengers & Employees to Thank a Navigator!
National Volunteer Appreciation Week
Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is celebrating National Volunteer Week by asking all Airport employees and passengers to show appreciation for the more than 340 Navigator Volunteers.
Sky Harbor Navigators are a group of friendly volunteers whose mission is to make the customer experience through Sky Harbor faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Navigators provide directions, information and friendly assistance.
This week, thousands of employees all over the Airport are wearing stickers that say “We Love Our PHX Navigator Volunteers.” Many of the airlines are also decorating their ticket counters in the Navigator’s signature color, purple.
“The Navigator Volunteers are the backbone of our customer service program here at Sky Harbor. These volunteers have made purple synonymous with a smile, a caring heart and a helping hand,” said Alisa Smith, Customer Service Manager.
The Navigator Volunteer Program is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary this year. Started in 2000, it began with 20 volunteers and has now grown to one of the largest Airport volunteer programs in the country. Since the start of the program, Navigators have donated over a half million hours of their time to helping passengers at America’s Friendliest Airport.
Individuals interested in applying to become a Navigator should call 602-273-4017 or e-mail navigator.staff@phoenix.gov.
