Bridge Removal for PHX Sky Train™ Taking Place

If you have been to the Airport recently and entered or exited from the East, you might have noticed some construction. And, if you’ve been following Sky Harbor on Twitter or been to our website, then you have seen many reminders about the roadway restrictions that occurred last weekend and will be happening again this weekend, Sept. 25-28.

Wondering what is going on? Above and to the right, see pictures from last weekend’s bridge removal. In fact, the construction work that has occurred and will be occurring again this weekend is related to the PHX Sky Train™. Construction crews have been working to remove three bridges on the east side of the Airport in order to create a path for the PHX Sky Train™, an automated train that will connect Terminal 4 with East Economy Parking and the METRO Light Rail stop at 44th Street and Washington. Eventually, all terminals, the Rental Car Center, parking lots, and the METRO Light Rail stop will be connected. To find out more about plans for the PHX Sky Train, click here.

Remember for those traveling to or from the Airport this weekend, please click here for important information on roadway restrictions that will take place and impact your travel to and from the Airport.
